Fantasia (1940)

This diorama is based on the a truly cinematic breakthrough which propel Mickey Mouse to a global icon and a great vision of the late Walt Disney.

This is a nice piece in which Mickey acting as the sorcerer's apprentice, summoned the wave in the absence of his master. I like the sculpt of Mickey and the base, the wave's sculpt however  a bit weird.

The paintjob isn't too fantastic, but they did manage to do some justice with the translucent tsunami wave.

Donald Duck and Chip & Dale (1947)

This diorama is based on the debut of Donald Duck's no. 1 irritants the chipmunk brothers known as Chip & Dale. This came from a series called "Silly Symphony" which also introduced the world to Pluto in 1943.

This piece is actually sculpted very nicely, a truly 3D piece in which Chip & Dale are actually surfing at the crest of the wave. However a lot of pieces tend to fall of easily (sense the trend?) such as the crab, Donald's float and his snorkels.

As for the chipmunks, their paintjob is okay, nothing fantastic.

Alice in Wonderland (1951)

This diorama is based on a popular children fantasy story turned Disney classic, "Alice in Wonderland".

In this vignette, Alice came to a crossroad and had to enquire on her actual direction from the Cheshire Cat. Like most pieces in this series, the base is actually very nicely done, and like most pieces, parts fall off easily, in this case, the crown of the tree. The Cheshire Cat is semi transparent as he is supposed to be.

Alice is not nicely painted. Definitely not the star piece of this set.

Aladdin (1992)

This diorama is based on a more contemporary animated feature from Disney. Based on an old Arabian classic, Aladdin gave hope to many with his flying carpet and his genie in the lamp.

When I first assemble this set, this piece took a lot of time until I realise that the carpet has been bent in such distorted way Aladdin and the Princess could not fit in. I could only fix it after the "hot-cold" water treatment.

Overall the paintwork isn't too bad. Genie's hands looked amputated. This piece does have a "flying carpet ride" feel to it.

Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

This diorama is based on a 1993 Christmas feature by the gothic and dark brilliant director, Tim Burton. Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town decided to spread some festive joy, but resulted in ruining Christmas for many, especially Santa Claus.

I was very much attracted to this set by this piece alone. It showed Jack and Sally having a romantic moment, with Jack's ghoulish dog by his side. It's a nice circular diorama piece with small Jack O Lanterns, tombstone and even a little picnic basket part of this delightful vignette. However Jack's head could not turn nicely like the picture to face Sally.

Final Rating:

Three & a half stars for this Secondo series as well. Beside the Nightmare before X'mas piece, the others aren't too eye catching. Seems like this Cinemagic series ended here, well we just have to wait and see.
